Questions for the Week of April 30th

1. Do you believe Zachary's stories? Why do you think he tells stories about his life?

2. Toby thinks about Cal's brother Wayne a lot. Why might this be? Is Cal concerned about his brother serving in Vietnam? Is Toby?

No, I dont believe his stories. If he was a normal kid not a fat kid I might. But I have a hard time imagining how he got on a plane or up the stairs to Seattle's Needle Point tower. I think it might be because Wayne was his friend and they had lots of good times together. I know Toby is concerned but I'm not sure about Cal. Cal doesnt seem like the kind of guy to express his feelings out loud.

Hello, I do not believe Zachary Beaver's stories. I say this because I don't understand how he could fit throught the doors or how could could get to all of those places. He would have to go on a plane to get to some of the places. Also I don't understnd how he could stay in a car for a road trip to get to some of the places. I think he's saying he has been to all these places because he wants to fit. I also think he is saying that he has been to these places because he wants his friends to think he can do all this stuff, that he can move even though he is very big.

I think Toby thinks about Wayne a lot becuase Cal never writes to Wayne, even though Wayne writes to Cal every month. I think Cal cares about his brother, but I think Toby cares about Wayne more. ( which is very odd that Cal's friend cares more about his brother).

Hi, everybody!

No, I do not believe Zachary's stories. With the way he reacted at the drive in movie theater there is no way he could have. He would have learned to deal with all of the attention if he had actually been to places as popular as the Eiffel Tower. I think he just made up those stories so that he could fit in. So that he could say he had done something other than sit around and have people pay money to look at him. He wanted to make people think that he led a somewhat normal life.

I think Toby thinks about Wayne a lot because Cal doesn't. He feels that because Cal doesn't respond to Wayne's letters, he should. He feels that because Cal rarely thinks about Wayne, Toby himself should make up for it by thinking about Wayne a ton. I don't think Cal is really concerned about his brother in Vietnam. If he is, he sure doesn't show it. Toby seems to be the one who thinks about Wayne and actually lets Cal know that he does.

Toodles, everybody!

Sometimes I belive his stories and sometimes I don't. I think he tells the stories because he wants to have real friends and not just have people look, gaze and to have peopel make fun of him.

1. I don't think Zachary's telling the truth. I mean, he had trouble walking up and down steps. I don't think he coul've visited all of those places.

2. I don't think Cal is really concernered about WAyne. he doesn't even respond to the letters. Toby, on the other hand, is concerned. He was even thinking about him while watching TV that one time. I think that's because Toby doesn't have any siblings, and Cal has three.

1. I think Zachary tells so many stories because he wants to sound like he has a great life, when really all he ever does is get paid to have people look at him as the fattest kid in the world. I think this is why Zachary seems so uncomfortable when people in public stare at him like he is an animal in a cage. He seems like he wants to disappear when poeple look at him. I have never been there but Paris and other places like that attract a lot of tourists and if Zachary can't handle a few stares from people in Antler, Texas he would not survive in the real world.

2. I think Toby thinks a lot about Wayne because he is like the brother Toby doesn't have. The perfect role model. I think Toby wants a brother to look up to like Wayne. I think this is why Toby always wants to write to Wayne but never does. I think he is concerned about Wayne being there. Cal, I think is concerned just doesn't know how to show it. He wants to act brave about it, and he does a good job. He never seems to show much emotion about his brother being at war. Their whole family does not talk about it much, just everyone else in town, it seems like.

Hello my GOOD FRINEDS IN SIXTH AND FIFTH GRADE!!!!!!!!! HOW ART THOU DOING???? i am right fine, dude mans. THIS BOOK IS REALLY GOOD, AND ANYONE WHO DOESN'T THINK SO BETTER HOLD ON TO THEIR HEAD!!!! (or, ms. yuenger and mrs. borchardt, better off with their head. haha)
this book is very good. it is kind of sad, though...
I think Zachary makes up for all of the things he lacks by telling stories about his "amazing, interesting life that goes everywhere from France to Holland to Africa." I don't especially believe him- i did at first but then i changed my mind. I mean, how could a guy as fat as him get all those places, anyway? he would have to have his own personal carpenter, construction worker- who followed him around and took down doorways and bathroom doors and built bigger ones for him! i mena, how would the rest of those unfortunate, skinny European people feel? Having a toilet seat as big as therewhole body would be a little uncomfortable...
Anyhoo, i think Zachary makes up those things about himself because he feels like he might lack in other ways... say being able to interest potential friends with playin football or baasketball or piantball... he can't do those things, so he feels like he has to make friends some other way, in his case telling lies.
I don't know what the heck is wrong with Toby buttin' into Cal's life and writing a letter to Cal's brother, and then saying it was from Cal. He could have a tleast asked, for Cheezits sake!!!! Who wants to have someone butting into there personal life? CERTAINLY NOT ME!!!!! it seems like Toby is a little obsessed with Wayne... i think he may want to just lay off the idoling for a while... it's like he fawns over him or something.
Of course, Toby doesn't have any siblings, and doesn't have any parents, either. I don't think he thinks to highly of his dearest Opalina, and his dad doesn't seem like the kind of person Toby would idol... so maybe he needs a role model. I think he just got a little over-the-top with the role-model stuff.
I think Cal is upset that Wayne is in Vietnam, but just can't show it. I think Tobias (Toby) is upset that WAyne is in Vietnam, and may show it a LITTLE better than Cal.
Okay, peopleroonies, i must bid you adieu, but not withouuut my little inspirational quote for you-

Nous sommes dans un petit morceau d'un univers etrange maintenant!!!!

just to let you know, that is in french, it means ' We are in a little bit of a strange universe right now.'
im not completely positive thats what it means, so i am dreadfully sorry ms. yuenger who is a french major if it does not mean what i think it means.

Bonjour, un petit fleurs!!!!!!
love and happiness

I don't really believe the stories that Zachary tells. There's probily a weight limit on that elevator...on the Eiffel Tower. He tells the stories maybeso it won't make him look like a lazy pig. I think Toby is more concerned for Wayne than Cal is. Maybe Cal thinks "Dude calm down. Come on its Wayne. He will be fine."

yo peoples happiness runs in a circular motion it is MPD!!!!!
I do not believe Z-B because how could he sit in a plane seat with out killing somebody. How and when did they get the trailer? Would they have to bring that to each place. Zach B. would have collapsed going up the Statue of liberty's stairs. There are no elevators in Statue of Liberty just stairs. He totally lied.

Well I think Cal cares about his brother he just does not show it at all. If Wayne were to die Cal would definetly show it. I think Toby cares about Wayne only because he is his best friends brother. Also Toby probably had good times with Wayne. Thats my story and i am sticking to it. MPD over and out

I dont belive the stories unless he was thiner I would but he is fat and he couldn't walk all the steps. he tells the stories. cal doesnt respond so he dosnt care about wayne but toby cares because he writes back.

1) Hi! I don't think that the stories Zachary tells are true. He says that he as traveled a lot around the world and that he has gone to Paris. Obviosly is you go to France, you can't drive. Since he is 643 puonds, I find it kind of hard to believe that he could fit in an air plane. The aisles are probly only two to three feet wide and the seats arn't very big either. He also say that he has been to the needle point tower and all that walking and stair must have been hard for him since he sweats when he walks like 10 steps. I think Zachary says he has been to all these places because he wants people to think that he can do anything just as good as someone else can and he doesn't want to be embarressed becaused he hasn't traveled like everyone else has.

2) Ithink Toby thinks about Cals brother a lot because he is in the war and he is worried about him. I kind of feel sorry for Wayne because he always writes to Cal but he hardly ever writes back. I think Toby might too. I'm sure Cal is at leased a little worried about wayne, but he doesn't show it very much. I think Toby really want Wayne to come back safe.

I guys I believe Zacks stories because they seem pritty real to me, yet I dont believe him because he is kind of mean. He probably tells people about his life because he really doesnt have anyone to talk to and he just wants to talk to somebody.

I agree with what a lot of people have said. That I wonder how he gets up stairs and in elevators. Or even on a plane. hmmmmmmmm.

I think that Toby and Cal are both very concerned about Wayne, knowing he could die at any moment.

bye

Probably because he worries about him because he is in a war. I dont really think Cal cares he probably think that Wayne will come home like nothing ever happened. Cal probably is concerned because Wayne is his best friends brother.

i do not believe in the stories i just think he likes to talk a lot and he has nothing better to do

2.i think toby cares more about wayne cal still cares about him but not as much as toby

mos5 my comp. was only working on anonomous sorry

1. No, I don't believe his stories. I think he tells stories because his true life isn't interesting. I think he wants to impress other people with his stories.

2. Toby thinks about Cal's brother Wayne because Wayne is serving in Vietnam and it is dangerous there and people serving there get killed. I don't know if Cal is concerned about Wayne but Toby is very concerned about Wayne.

1) I don't believe Zachary's stories because you would think that after being to all those places, you would have been able to counter the peoples stares. I think he tells stories about his life because maybe when people are over, he hasn't done anything exciting to talk about so he tells of places he hasn't really seen to keep people interested.
2) I think Toby, and eveyone in Antler, Texas is concerned about Wayne and maybe Toby cares more to make up for Cal. I think Cal loves Wayne, but I think Wayne is going to die in Vietnam, sadly.
